Template:Infobox New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe is a side-scrolling 2.5D platform game planned to release on the Nintendo Switch worldwide on January 11, 2019. It is a port of the Wii U launch title New Super Mario Bros. U. It contains both the base game and the New Super Luigi U DLC, which was originally released in 2013. Mario, Luigi, Yellow Toad (generically named Toad in this game), and Nabbit all return as playable characters from the original Wii U title while this game introduces a new playable character, Toadette, who will make her playable debut in the New Super Mario Bros. subseries. She has a unique form known as Peachette after grabbing a Super Crown that grants her abilities similar to that of Princess Peach and Princess Daisy.[1]

Differences from New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U

  • The game has a higher native resolution, being displayed in 1080p in TV mode, and 720p in Handheld and Tabletop modes, as opposed to the dynamic 1080p and 720p resolutions of a TV connected to a Wii U, and a Wii U GamePad, respectively.
  • It is possible to play as any character in single player, whereas previous installments only allowed Mario (Luigi and Nabbit in New Super Luigi U) to be played with.[2]
  • Mario can now be played within the New Super Luigi U levels[3] while Nabbit can be played in the New Super Mario Bros. U levels.[4] As such, Mario and Nabbit use the physics from those games for the first time.
  • Blue Toad has not been shown to make a reappearance. Instead, he seems to have been replaced by Toadette.
  • The Super Crown is added as a new power-up exclusively to Toadette when used. Toadette becomes Peachette which allows her to float, double jumping infinitely similar to the P-Acorn and double jumps out of pits from losing a life. Any other character cannot pick it up, merely passing through it without getting rewarded.[5]
  • The New Super Luigi U levels start at 200 seconds instead of 100.
  • Nabbit has new voice clips that are similar to Toads.
  • Nabbit can bounce off Yoshis since he cannot ride them. [6]
  • There is now a hint button on the menu.
  • Character selection icons now use their updated artwork. Toadette and Nabbit are also labelled as "easy" and "super easy" respectively.
  • The player can remap the buttons on different controllers on the pause menu.
  • The title screen uses the same ground as the New Super Luigi U title screen with Nabbit included.
