Template:Species-infobox A Paper Macho Shy Guy is an enemy in Paper Mario: The Origami King, a type of Paper Macho Soldier. They attack by dashing toward Mario, although faster and farther than a Paper Macho Goomba. They are common in certain places.

Like the other Paper Macho Soldiers, a Paper Macho Shy Guy is invulnerable at first due to the sticker on its back. Mario must get behind the Paper Macho Shy Guy and hammer the sticker to make it vulnerable, then dodge its following attacks and hammer to finish it off.

The first few Paper Macho Shy Guys are found on Overlook Mountain. Southwest of Overlook Tower is an open soccer field with three Paper Macho Shy Guys playing soccer with the red Shell Stone. After the last Paper Macho Shy Guy is destroyed, three Toads are released and play soccer themselves. Paper Macho Shy Guys are described as more interested in playing soccer than socking players.

Several slightly smaller Paper Macho Shy Guys star in the western play on the first floor of the Big Sho' Theater. They rely on Mario to protect them from an outlaw and his gang. More Paper Macho Shy Guys appear in the third floor performance in a dance routine. When Mario is tasked with holding one up, he becomes exhausted and drops it, destroying it. This threatens the others, who start to attack him onstage.

Lots of tiny Paper Macho Shy Guys appear in the Fire Vellumental Cave where they hold buckets of oil which are lit on fire by a Fire Vellumental statue. While they hold the buckets, Mario can hammer them to ignite them, then hammer them again to defeat them. They can attack by pouring the buckets in front of them, creating a line of fire, at which point they will run to get another bucket. Hammering them when they don't have a bucket will instantly defeat them.

A Paper Macho Shy Guy is fought in the second stage of Scuffle Island, labeled the Poker-Faced Punisher. Defeating him is worth 500 coins the first time and 50 coins the next. There are now three stickers Mario must hammer before he can inflict any real damage.
