Template:Infobox New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe is a side-scrolling 2.5D platform game planned to release on the Nintendo Switch worldwide on January 11, 2019. It is a port of the Wii U launch title New Super Mario Bros. U. It contains both the base game and the New Super Luigi U DLC, which was originally released in 2013. Mario, Luigi, Yellow Toad, and Nabbit all return as playable characters from the original Wii U title while this game introduces a new playable character, Toadette, who will make her playable debut in the New Super Mario Bros. subseries. She has a unique form known as Peachette after grabbing a Super Crown that grants her abilities similar to that of Princess Peach and Princess Daisy.[1]
Differences from New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U
- It is possible to play as any character in single player, whereas previous installments only allowed Mario (Luigi and Nabbit in New Super Luigi U) to be played with.[2]
- Mario can now be played within the New Super Luigi U levels[3] while Nabbit can be played in the New Super Mario Bros. U levels.[4] As such, Mario and Nabbit use the physics from those games for the first time.
- The Super Crown is added as a new power-up exclusively to Toadette when used. Toadette becomes Peachette which allows her to float and double jump; the latter can be used to escape from pits. It seems to replace the Super Acorn for Toadette.
- Nabbit has new voice clips.
- The title screen uses the same ground as the New Super Luigi U title screen.
