Effect Makes enemies fall slower

Parachutes appear in the Super Mario franchise as objects that are attached to enemies and items to make them fall slower.

Parachutes first appear in Super Mario World, where there are two enemies that have them: Parachute Galoombas and Parabombs. Both show up in various other games.

There are two variants of the Parabomb, those being Glad Parabombs from Super Princess Peach and Paper Macho Bob-ombs that appear in Paper Mario: The Origami King.

In Yoshi's Story, aside from Parabombs, parachutes also sometimes carry melons, Heart Fruits, and Delay Switches.

In Yoshi Topsy-Turvy, parachutes hold items like coins and apples, though bombs also appear on them. They slowly descend and can be eaten, though this causes the item they carry to drop. They are the functional opposite of Item Balloons, which carry items upwards.

In Super Mario Maker 2, almost every enemy can be given a parachute, resulting in many more parachuting enemies besides the variants of the Galoombas and Bob-ombs.

In Mario Kart World, planes can throw out Item Boxes with parachutes.
