- In development, Maple's original name was Plum, and was supposed to be related to Peach, similar to Azalea and Daisy. The concept was removed by Camelot Software before release.[1]
- In an interview, a Camelot Software dev confirmed Maple as the first lesbian character in the Mario series.
- Maple predicted Super Mario Bros. Wonder. This is because she says "Wonderful".
