Ali Mustafa is a tie salesman from Cairo, Egypt. He briefly appears in the comic "Mario's Picross," published in the German Club Nintendo magazine. His role in the story is based on a well-known joke.

Mario meets Ali Mustafa when he loses his way in the desert. Ali Mustafa, wearing at least a dozen ties himself, offers some to Mario. He, who does not need a tie, but a beverage, gets furious and shoos Ali Mustafa away. Mario does not know, however, that a cocktail bar he finds later requires him to wear a tie in order to enter. Ali Mustafa wears an orange robe, a teal turban, and claims to have the best ties in Egypt.
