Elegy is a status attack in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars that is used by certain monsters, such as the Hobgoblin and the Reacher. It casts Mute on a single party member. When Elegy is used, small, glowing music notes begin appearing and start floating on screen, and Mute symbols start descending on the character, making them look lethargic and unable to use special moves.

The music used in the move is a minor-key xylophone rendition of the soundtrack of the same name, normally played on piano.
