Iron Clefts are a powerful type of Cleft found in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. The only known Iron Clefts are the two members of the Armored Harriers team in the Glitz Pit. They are large Clefts with a blue coloration, and as their name implies, they are made of impenetrable metal. Even if Mario manages to have the Piercing Blow badge equipped, he still won't deal damage, and a correctly-timed Superguard will not hurt them either. Yoshi's Gulp provides the only known way to defeat the Armored Harriers, as it involves hitting one of the Iron Clefts with the other. It is unknown how the higher-ranked teams in the Glitz Pit managed to defeat the Armored Harriers and obtain higher rankings, or at least, how the next-highest team, the Tiny Spinies, managed to defend their rank.

The Iron Adonis Twins, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

Iron Clefts are a powerful type of Cleft first seen in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and its Nintendo Switch remake. The only known Iron Clefts are the two members of The Iron Adonis Twins team in the Glitz Pit. They are large blue Clefts made of impenetrable metal. Because their defense is considered to be unknown, no attacks will do any damage to them, even moves that bypass defense and if a character executes a perfectly timed Superguard. Yoshi's Gulp provides the only known source of damaging these Iron Clefts, as it involves hitting one of the Iron Clefts with the other.

Log No attacks can pierce the Defense of this hard, metallic Cleft. Are they impossible to defeat???
Tattle That's an Iron Cleft. That guy is SCARY. Period! Max HP is 6, Attack is 4, and Defense is...UNKNOWN?!? What's WITH this book? It says no attack will work against Iron Clefts! It says nothing in the world is as hard as an Iron Cleft, so its Defense is impenetrable. If that's true, the only way to beat one is to whack it with the other one... Running away may not be a bad idea at this point.

Trivia[edit]

 • Despite Goombella's tattle mentioning the only way to damage the Iron Clefts is to whack them into each other, neither the Super Hammer nor the Ultra Hammer moves are able to damage them, despite both moves being capable of hitting enemies into each other.
