The Glitzville reporter, as his name implies, is a seasoned reporter who covers fight's in Glitzville's Glitz Pit in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. He is normally seen in the Glitz Pit's lobby alongside a Lakitu cameraman, who Goombella says he helps direct. With a microphone in hand, he is always interested in getting the latest scoop on Glitz Pit fighters, though he only devotes real attention to champions, like Rawk Hawk and those in the Major League. His race is never stated, though he shares some similarities with the Glitz Pit Security. He also somewhat resembles a pineapple, with an orange body and a spiky green tuft of hair that looks like pineapple leaves.

After King K encourages Mario to go visit the nearby Hot Dog Stand, Mario tries to exit the Glitz Pit only to find himself surrounded by adoring Toad and Lakitu fans of Rawk Hawk. The reporter and his cameraman are on the scene, eager to report on a celebrity of Rawk Hawk's caliber. The reporter and the cameraman remain uninterested in Mario until he advances in rank substantially.
After Mario defeats Rawk Hawk and becomes the champion, the reporter is vastly more interested in hearing from Mario and his party members. He asks Mario are variety of questions, ranging from what kind of soda pop he would be, what noise he would make if he was a jungle animal, what kind of tasty chip he is, whether he's an android or a cyborg, what kind of soup ingredient he is, what kind of swim trunks he wears, and who he would be if he was a video-game hero. His interest is heightened even more when, with guidance from the mysterious X, Mario uncovers the truth behind Prince Mush's disappearance and exposes Grubba's corruption. If Mario chooses to return to the Glitz Pit after this, the reporter will express great enthusiasm to see him again.
During Mario's battle against the Shadow Queen, the cameraman gather with others in Glitzville to shout support into the Gold Star to empower Mario in the fight. In the remake on the Nintendo Switch, the cameraman and even more from Glitzville join the reporter to also give their support.
