"Canada's Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Banana Mania Contest - Behind the Scenes" is a video uploaded to Nintendo of America's official YouTube channel in 2014. The video showcases behind-the-scenes footage of another video published a month earlier, which was titled "Canada's Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Banana Mania Contest". Additionally, the video shows the correct answer for the amount of bananas encased in ice (which participants had to guess in order to win the contest), this being 4,835 bananas.

Synopsis[edit]

At the beginning of the video, a graphic is shown asking the viewer what an appropriate way to launch Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze would be. The video then answers this question by stating that "you fill a giant block of ice with 4,835 bananas", "hire Donkey Kong", "shoot a video", and "have an awesome contest".

A time-lapse of the set for the video being built is then shown, followed by a time-lapse of the ice block containing the bananas being built. Footage of the beginning of a take of the commercial is then shown, in addition to a still image of the actor playing Ajay Fry shown through a camera. Following this, multiple still images of the shoot are shown, including the set as viewed through a camera, a man standing with the person wearing the Donkey Kong mascot costume, and multiple images of setting up the crate containing the bananas.

Following this, the camera pans across the frozen bananas to Donkey Kong, who is beating his chest. A short clip of what appears to be one of the tables in the background of the video is then shown, which features a Donkey Kong mug, a framed picture of a Banana Bunch, and a Viking helmet akin to that of the Snowmads.

Another clip follows shortly after, which depicts a screen that shows the temperature of the crate. Two shots of various beakers are then shown, followed by footage of the cast members playing NES Remix. A still image of the bananas is then shown, followed by five outtakes of the final shot, in addition to the used take.

A time-lapse of the set being taken down is then shown, followed by a graphic stating that all of the bananas used in the shoot were donated to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. A still image of Donkey Kong standing with the bananas as they are loaded onto the food bank's truck is then shown.
