Así Se Juega: Mario & Sonic en Londres 2012 - Juegos Olímpicos is a series of television and web bumpers intended to promote Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games, showing footage from the Wii version. It also has the additional purpose of teaching people how every sport is played, including its rules. The series has short episodes lasting from two to five minutes each and was broadcast on Canal 5 as well as Televisa's website. The bumpers were released between July 25 and July 27, 2012, and the series was a collaboration between Sega of America, Televisa Deportes, and 3nMedia.[3] While Super Mario–franchise characters are present in the videos, the level of Nintendo's involvement is unknown. Seventeen bumpers are known to exist.
Overview[edit]
The bumpers start with a few seconds of various segments of the intro of Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games, with the characters' names shown next to them. Throughout the bumpers, a mix of in-game and real life footage is shown. People who have achieved world records in the relevant sport are seen after the intro (only Usain Bolt is known to appear). Then a list of the sections of the bumper is shown, which correspond to a rule of the sport seen in the bumper. In each section, real life footage is shown alongside a fact about the rule, accompanied by artwork of one of the playable characters in Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games, after which footage from the aforementioned game is seen, essentially being a playthrough of the sport seen in the bumper. This structure is repeated until the last section appears, after which the winning character is shown and part of the intro is replayed. A narrator is present, which accompanies the sections and will wave to the viewer when the bumper ends, expecting to see them next time.
