Gift Box
A Gift Box[1] is an object in the Super Mario series. It is a box wrapped with a bow like a present that appears in the Toad Houses in Super Mario 3D Land, Super Mario 3D World, and Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury. A Gift Box separate from a Toad House appears in Super Mario Run, though it is placed atop the same kind of stumps that Toad Houses are.
In Super Mario 3D Land, the player can receive a random power-up from hitting a Gift Box, though they can receive better Gift Boxes through StreetPass Gifts, which give the player more power-ups depending on how many times the same person is StreetPassed.
In Super Mario 3D World and Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, each Toad House contains two Gift Boxes: a small one and a large one. Hitting one of the boxes gives the player either one Super Mushroom (25% chance) or an assortment of four power-ups (75% chance).[2]
In Super Mario Run, a Gift Box is present in the top right corner of the play area on the screen with Peach's Castle. It holds items that the player receives from events and My Nintendo. If there are items in the box, the Gift Box will bounce up and down as a reminder. Tapping on the box opens a menu where the player can select which items to receive, or press a button to receive all items at once. Aside from this, a Gift Box icon appears in Remix 10 over the Airship and Castle icons indicating VS Boom Boom and VS Bowser courses, respectively. After clearing an Area with one of these courses, the box opens up to contain a 5★ or 6★ building or decoration.
