Ice Climber is one of 9-Volt's microgames found in the Nintendo Classics folder in WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$! and one of 5-Volt's microgames found in the Nintendo Classics level of the Mash League in WarioWare Gold. It is based on the bonus stage of the NES game also called Ice Climber.
GameplayEdit
In this microgame, the player controls Popo, one of the Ice Climbers. The player has to try and grab onto the condor flying overhead.
WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$!Edit
- 1st level difficulty: Popo does not need to move around to grab onto the condor.
- 2nd level difficulty: Popo may have to move to another platform to grab onto the condor.
- 3rd level difficulty: Popo starts at the bottom platform and he has to get on a higher platform to grab the condor.
WarioWare GoldEdit
The timer is twice as long, and the field of view is larger.
- 1st level difficulty: Popo does not need to move around to grab onto the condor.
- 2nd level difficulty: Popo starts on a lower platform and he has to get on a higher platform to grab the condor.
- 3rd level difficulty: Popo must utilize the moving clouds to grab the eggplant instead of a condor.
In-game timerEdit
In addition to the regular timer on the bottom, there is also a timer in the upper left within the microgame based on the bonus stage timer in the original Ice Climber game.
In Mega Microgame$! the timer counts down at a set speed regardless of the microgame's speed, so as the microgame speeds up, the amount of time on that timer decreases. For instance, at speed 1 the timer starts at approximately 02.8, whereas at speed 2 it starts at 02.4.
In Gold the timer almost always starts at approximately 08.0, with 2 beats equaling 1.0 on the timer. In the WarioWatch challenge the timer starts at approximately 10.0, partially due to all non-boss microgames in WarioWatch having a 28-beat time limit.
