Right of Way is one of Mona's microgames in WarioWare Gold.

Gameplay[edit]

The player, who is wearing a white shirt with blue pants, is walking down the center of a sidewalk. The sidewalk takes up a column in the center of the screen, and the player is moving from the bottom of the screen to the top. Another person will move up the sidewalk with a level dependent movement pattern. The player must avoid colliding with the other person to complete the microgame. To do this, the player can press +Control Pad left or right to move toward the corresponding edge of the sidewalk. They cannot walk off the sidewalk. Once the player starts moving left or right, they are unable to stop moving left or right. They can override movement in one direction with movement in the other direction. Staying in the center of the screen will always cause a collision.

Colliding with the second person causes both characters to fall over, with the second person getting angry.

  • Level 1: The second person, who wears a red shirt with white pants while using their phone, quickly veers over to one side of the sidewalk.
  • Level 2: The second person, who is wearing a blacksuit and a blue bandana while closing their eyes and teetering, quickly veers over to one side of the sidewalk. It is possible for them to veer to the other side as they get closer.
  • Level 3: The microgame occurs at night, with a music box remix of the microgame's normal music. A cyclist in a green shirt and brown pants on a red bike rushes down up or down one side of the sidewalk, appearing either from the top of the screen or the bottom of the screen. Their presence is telegraphed a little by the bike's headlight, which casts a yellow light ahead of the bike.

Naming[edit]

This microgame's name is a play on a term used to denote which person is allowed to move across a shared area first. It is often referenced in regards to motorists or users of other vehicles at intersections, where other vehicles or pedestrians are trying to move across the same intersection.
