The Kinoko Police, or KP for short, is the Mushroom Kingdom police force, which appeared in Super Mario Bros. 4: Super Mario World 6 of the Super Mario Kodansha manga.
During the event of the manga, the Mushroom King nominates Mario chief detective of the Special Kinoko Police, a subdivision of the police force used during special emergencies (it is however unclear if the Special force was instituted before or during the event), to solve a robbery case. The Kinoko Police is formed exclusively of Toads, while Yoshi and his friends work in the SKP as assistants.
The Kinoko Police is first seen in the first chapter at the police station, where Bowser (the presumed culprit) gets interrogated and later a chase ensue with the real culprits of the robbery.
In chapter 2, the Kinoko Police, guided by a chief, receive a ransom tape from Bowser and later, alongside the SKP, surround, negotiate, and later raid Bowser's hideout. During this, the Kinoko Police is helped by the sniper forces.
In chapter 4, a captain of the Kinoko Police is seen, ordering the SKP to investigate the whereabouts of a yeti sightseeing.
The police returns in the bonus chapter of Super Mario Land 2 - 6-tsu no Kinka 3, led by a Kong named Inspector Gori. They arrest Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi after the disguised Wario, Kurokyura, and Bopping Toady framed them for an armed bank robbery.
