"Meanwhile, Princess Peach..." is a theme composed for Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and rearranged for its Nintendo Switch remake, being used as a leitmotif for Princess Peach (as well as TEC in the remake).
History[edit]
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door[edit]
"Meanwhile, Princess Peach..."[edit]
In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, "Meanwhile, Princess Peach..." is a sentimental, synthesized theme in 3
4 time that plays during Princess Peach's interludes in the X-Naut Fortress. It features a slow tempo and a music box instrument used as backing, giving the song a calm nature to contrast Princess Peach's intermissions with the energetic themes heard in the rest of the game. The A section of "Peach's Castle" from Super Mario 64 can be heard in the harmony at the beginning of the song, and it is also arranged into the melody later in the song.
In the remake, many of the original synths from the song are maintained, but more woodwind timbres are added, such as flutes, recorders, and oboes; the theme is also extended to include an arrangement of the B section of "Peach's Castle".
This theme receives an additional arrangement in the original game and two in the remake.
"After the Final Battle"[edit]
"After the Final Battle" is an arrangement of "Meanwhile, Princess Peach..." that plays after the Shadow Queen is defeated, beginning as slow and reflective before transitioning into a more triumphant theme with a slightly faster tempo.

"Goodbye, TEC"[edit]
"Goodbye, TEC" is a somber arrangement of "Meanwhile, Princess Peach..." that plays just before TEC is shut down by Grodus at the end of Princess Peach's intermission after Chapter 6. It uses a completely synthesized melody to represent TEC and his newfound connection to Princess Peach. This theme is exclusive to the Nintendo Switch remake of the game.
