The group infobox is used to present general information on groups of characters which often appear together, such as the Koopalings or the Rescue Squad. For species which many characters belong to, use {{species infobox}}.

| |title= | By default, this is not necessary, as it will automatically use the article title sans identifier. For special cases, it can be manually specified. |
| |image= | A representative image of the subject - ideally, artwork from the most recently released game. |
| |first_appearance= | The first game, book, cartoon episode, comic issue, movie, etc. that the group has appeared in. For groups who first appeared in mangas, the manga's chapter should be listed alongside the title (e.g. Super Mario Kodansha manga ("Star Road to Bowser's Castle")). If the exact chapter is unknown, the volume may be used instead.[Proposal 1] |
| |latest_appearance= | The latest game (etc) that the group has appeared in. This does not include upcoming games: the game must have been released before the infobox can be updated.[Proposal 2] Like the first appearance, the chapter or volume should be listed alongside manga titles when applicable.[Proposal 1] |
| |latest_portrayal= | Who voiced (or otherwise portrayed) the group in the most recently released game (etc). Archival audio from previous games does not count for this field.[Proposal 3] Used only if all members of the group are only voiced by only one person. |
| |portrayed_by= | If only one person has portrayed the species, use this instead of "latest_portrayal" (e.g. the Sprixie Princesses are all voiced by Zoe Nelson.) |
| |member_of= | Larger groups a group may a part of. (e.g. the Koopalings are notable members of Bowser's Minions.)[Proposal 4] |
| |species= | If all group members, including the leader, belong to the same species, use this instead of "member_species". |
| |leader= | The leader of a group (e.g. Bowser is the leader of Bowser's Minions.) |
| |members= | Notable members of a group that aren't the leader (e.g. Kamek is a notable member of Bowser's Minions.) |
| |member_species= | Species that are frequently part of a group (e.g. Goombas are a member species of Bowser's Minions.) |
| |collapsed= | Set collapsed=y to collapse both the "members" and "member_species" lists.

Set to "true" to collapse just the "members" or the "member_species" lists, respectively. |

Set to 1 to change either list to one column if there is a formatting issue with the default of two. |
