Illusions[1] are projections created by Boos in Super Mario 3D World and Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury. They appear inside Shifty Boo Mansion and Shiftier Boo Mansion, taking on the forms 1-Up Mushrooms, pipes, a Warp Box, and Goal Poles. When touched by a player character, an illusion dissipates into several cackling Boos before vanishing. At least two have other attributes. The second fake pipe[1] in Shifty Boo Mansion leaves a Green Star behind when it disappears. Three Big Boos appear around the first fake Goal Pole[2] in Shiftier Boo Mansion when a player character draws near.
