Fake Goal Pole.jpg
An illusion of a Goal Pole
First appearance Super Mario 3D World (2013)
Latest appearance Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (2021)

Illusions[1] are projections created by Boos in Super Mario 3D World and Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury. They appear inside Shifty Boo Mansion and Shiftier Boo Mansion, taking on the forms of 1-Up Mushrooms, pipes, a Mystery Box, and Goal Poles. When touched by a player character, an illusion dissipates into several cackling Boos before vanishing. Some illusions have other attributes. The second fake pipe[1] in Shifty Boo Mansion leaves a Green Star behind when it disappears. Three Big Boos appear around the first fake Goal Pole[2] in Shiftier Boo Mansion when a player character draws near.
