Buddies[1] are ally characters that appear only in Mario's Bombs Away and its port in Game & Watch Gallery 4. They help Mario in giving him bombs and taking them to the enemy's base.
History
Mario's Bombs Away
The buddies first appear in Mario's Bombs Away, one in the left outpost and another one on the right side. The left one delivers bombs to Mario, and the right one throws the bombs to the enemy's base. When the player gets a miss, the bomb explodes into the left outpost, causing the left buddy to set on fire. The right one rarely puts out his hands for Mario to deliver the bomb.
Game & Watch Gallery 4
Both of the buddies reappear in Mario's Bombs Away's port. They have exactly the same behavior from its first appearance.
