The Drill Mushroom[1] is a power-up item that first appeared in Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Upon picking it up, it will turn the user into their Drill form[1], giving them the ability to drill through the ground and ceiling along with being able to defeat enemies from below similar to the Spiny Shell helmet from Super Mario Maker.
When any character picks up a Drill Mushroom, a drill appears on top of their head, replacing any hat previously worn. Their clothes become primarly gray with details keeping the original main character color. For instance, Mario's shirt is gray and his overalls are red, and Peach's dress is mainly grey while the panniers at the waist, the high collar and the frill at the hem stay pink.
