Variant of | Magmaargh |
Magmaws[1] are a smaller variant of Magmaargh that first appeared in Super Mario Galaxy 2. They resemble a pillar of scarlet lava with yellow eyes at the top and a mouth that is often seen agape, revealing a yellow tongue inside.
History
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Magmaws are enemies in Super Mario Galaxy 2. They are encountered in only one galaxy, Melty Monster Galaxy, although the only mission Mario or Luigi directly encounters is "The Magnificent Magma Sea." They are loaded in "A Stroll Down Rolling Lane" and "The Chimp's Bowling Challenge" but cannot be faced. Magmaws live in lava and attack by opening their mouths and passing through asteroids that the player may be on. They seem to be mostly liquid because small objects such as meteors can pass through their body. Much like their larger counterparts, Magmaarghs, they cannot be defeated.
Appearances
New Super Mario Bros. U / New Super Luigi U / New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe
Magmaws are enemies in New Super Mario Bros. U, New Super Luigi U and New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe. They are encountered in only one level of New Super Mario Bros. U, Magma-River Cruise, and in only two levels of New Super Luigi U, Magmaw River Cruise and The Final Battle; in these levels, they come up from the lava, move towards the player, and go back down. Magmaws bounce Nabbit backward, just as other large hazards do to him.
