Clockwork Blocks[1] are a type of moving platform that debuted in New Super Mario Bros. U. They appear as large metal-plated blocks with turning gears inside. Clockwork Blocks move left to right, typically following tracks marked by similar metal blocks with gears inside. When reaching the end of a track, they slow down before moving in the opposite direction. In New Super Mario Bros. U, several appear in Ludwig's Clockwork Castle, and in New Super Luigi U, two large Clockwork Blocks appear in Ludwig's Block-Press Castle.
