Flower Cup

The Flower Cup is a cup in the Mario Kart series. It is represented by a Fire Flower.

This cup is slightly harder Mushroom Cup, and typically has more dynamic and gimmicky tracks in comparison. The cup usually contains Mario Circuit as the first or second track. The Flower Cup was a starter cup in the Mario Kart series until Mario Kart 7, where it is unlocked by completing the Mushroom Cup. Completing this cup in third place or higher unlocks the Star Cup.

The Flower Cup also appears in other games, typically sports games. In some games, such as Mario Power Tennis, the Flower Cup is called the Fire Cup. However, it is represented with a Fire Flower.

Other appearances

The cup appears also in sports-themed Mario games like Super Mario Strikers and Mario Superstar Baseball. In Super Mario Strikers, the Flower Cup has six teams, five rounds, and uses the table system. When the player finishes in the top three, the Crater Field and the Star Cup are unlocked. A similar cup is the Super Flower Cup. The Flower Cup is also one of three playable tournaments in Mario Sports Mix.

In Mario Tennis Open, the Flower Cup is the second in the World Open tournament. It is played on the Wario Dunes court, and the CPU difficulty is a little bit harder than that of the Mushroom Cup's. The cup is unlocked by beating the Mushroom Cup.

Trivia

• Mario Kart DS's Flower Cup is the only version of the cup that has no Mario Circuit.
• The Flower Cup is the only Nitro cup to have Waluigi-themed courses.
• Since Mario Kart DS, the fourth track in the Flower Cup has a mountain in it. Shroom Ridge is on the edge of a mountain, Wario's Gold Mine is set between two mountains, Rock Rock Mountain is a mountain and Shy Guy Falls has a massive tabletop-like mountain with the waterfalls.
• Each of Mario Kart Double Dash's Flower Cup's tracks share the same music with another track in the game: Mushroom Bridge uses the same music as Mushroom City, Mario Circuit uses the same music as Luigi Circuit and Yoshi Circuit, Daisy Cruiser uses the same music as Peach Beach, and Waluigi Stadium uses the same music as Wario Colosseum
