The Sunshine Tour was the hundred-and-first tour of Mario Kart Tour, which began on July 26, 2023 and ended on August 8, 2023. This tour introduced Lakeside Park from Mario Kart: Super Circuit as a new classic course to the game while also adding in R/T variants for GCN Daisy Cruiser and SNES Koopa Troopa Beach 2; the latter's R/T variant was previously seen in a screenshot during the Summer Tour. As of this tour, all Yoshi colors from Mario Kart 8 are present in Mario Kart Tour.

This tour marked the first reappearance of Sydney Sprint 2R/T since its debut in the September 2021 Sydney Tour, the first reappearance of the other variants of Sydney Sprint 2 since the Anniversary Tour, the first reappearance of 3DS Daisy Hills since the 2023 Ninja Tour, the first reappearance of Sydney Sprint since the 2nd Anniversary Tour, the first reappearance of GCN Daisy Cruiser since the 2022 Mario vs. Luigi Tour, the first reappearance of Wii Daisy Circuit since its debut in the Princess Tour, and the first reappearance of SNES Koopa Troopa Beach 2 since the Samurai Tour thirty-five tours prior (the longest gap in the game between two appearances of a classic course).

The Summertime Celebration event began in this tour, and will run for the following two tours.

The YouTube videos linked to the in-game news announcement for the tour trailer and Mii Racing Suit trailer were initially marked as private rather than unlisted and were publicized on the platform later than usual.^{[citation needed]} The trailers, however, were still publicly visible on Twitter^[1]^[2] and Facebook^[3]^[4] at the usual times.

The Coin Rush course for this tour was Sydney Sprint, which was previously used for the two Sydney Tours in April and May 2021 and September 2021, respectively. The menu background featured the Daisy Cruiser as the tour's landmark, being reused from the Ocean Tour.

Today's Challenge

Players' most recently used kart and glider are chosen, and favorite and favored ones have extra priority. Opponents are arranged randomly. On day 1 of this tour, players finish a race in 3DS Cheep Cheep Lagoon R in the Mii Cup using the Toadette Mii Racing Suit for a free pipe launch. Starting from day 2, players have to finish a race in the earliest incomplete course that is not in any of the ranked cups using the driver shown on the course's thumbnail every day to obtain the corresponding reward in the table below. Once all of the courses are completed, the courses are selected at random.

Trivia

There is an editing error in this tour's splash screen image. Toadette's ponytail is seen going behind Yoshi (Kangaroo)'s Green Double-Decker, even though Toadette is in front of the Green Double-Decker. This error is not present in the landscape version used in the tour's trailer and the portrait version used at the end of the trailer and in the social media posts to announce the start of the tour.^[5]^[6]
In the Toadette Cup, Toadette does not have a favorite course, and only appears as a favored driver, though one of her variants, Toadette (Sailor), appears in Wii Daisy Circuit T and GCN Daisy Cruiser R/T as a favorite driver and is featured on the course icon for Wii Daisy Circuit T. This is the second occurrence of this happening, with the first being the Luigi Cup in the 2021 Halloween Tour.
