Template:Species-infobox Yellow Toads are a subspecies of the Toad species who have made many appearances throughout the Mario series. They debuted in Super Mario Sunshine, where they were very similar to the other Toads who appear in the game, and possess little personality of their own. However, as they have continued to appear in the series, Yellow Toads have become more developed. Super Mario Galaxy was the first game in which one was given a significant personality; he can often be found sleeping, regardless of the Toad's location.

History

Super Mario series

Super Mario Sunshine

A Yellow Toad first appeared in Super Mario Sunshine, where he was one of the five young Toads that accompanied Mario, Princess Peach, and Toadsworth on their vacation to Isle Delfino. Upon arrival, the group finds the island a mess. Soon after, the villain Shadow Mario appears and kidnaps Peach. This caused the Toads (Yellow Toad among them) extreme sadness and worry. The Toads provided no help, as they spent most of their time in Delfino Plaza. Yellow Toad would usually be found alongside Purple Toad and Toadsworth; often running around worrying about the Princess. Out of the six Toads in the game, these three tended to worry the most. In the ending, the Toads were shown to be much happier as Mario rescued Peach and cleaned the island. Yellow Toad could be seen enjoying himself during the end credits alongside the other Toads.

Mario vs. Donkey Kong

A Yellow Toad appeared in Mario vs. Donkey Kong, where Red Toad, Blue Toad, and he were employed at the toy store. They worked joyfully, enjoying the Mini Mario toys that were produced there, until Donkey Kong arrived and stole them. After Mario defeated Donkey Kong in Twilight City Plus, Yellow Toad could be seen alongside Mario, the Mini Marios and the other two Toads, apparently laughing at Donkey Kong, who had lost all of the Mini Marios that he stole. In his anger, Donkey Kong grabbed the three Toads and climbed up on top of a tall tower. However, Mario would defeat him again and save the Toads.

A Yellow Toad appeared in Super Mario Galaxy as one of the members of the Toad Brigade. Out of the group, Yellow Toad seemed to be the most careless and lazy, as he is often seen sleeping in the game. For this trait, he received from the other Toads the nickname "Sleepy."

Another Yellow Toad appeared in New Super Mario Bros. Wii as a playable main character who went with Mario and Luigi around the Mushroom Kingdom to rescue Princess Peach.

Super Mario Galaxy 2

The Yellow Toad from Super Mario Galaxy returns in Super Mario Galaxy 2 as one of the members of Toad Brigade. He is found in Starship Mario and is sleeping in Boulder Bowl Galaxy.

Mario Baseball series

In Mario Superstar Baseball, a Yellow Toad appears as a team member who is part of Toad's alternate colors and has no other apparent differences. In its sequel Mario Super Sluggers, Yellow Toad is a team member and is an alternate coloration once again of Toad. In the challenge mode, Yellow Toad can be found behind some large mushrooms and if one talks to it, Yellow Toad will pop out. After he appears, Yellow Toad challenges the player to a game of baseball so that he could see whether if the player was worthy of his assistance.

Other Games

Yellow Toads can be often seen in many of the sports games including Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games as part of the audience. The yellow toads also appear as team members in the Mario Strikers series. Many yellow toads appear as reporters in the intro of Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis as well.

Yellow Toads also appear in the Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi series, however in comparison to the other games these toads all appear very different in appearance to the other members of the species.
