This article is about a kart from Mario Kart 7. For Lakilester's move from Paper Mario, see Cloud Nine. For the Nintendo Comics System issue, see Cloud Nine (comic).

Template:Kart-infobox The Cloud 9 is a kart part that players can choose in Mario Kart 7. As its name implies, it is shaped like a Lakitu's Cloud with exhaust pipes. It is the signature kart part for Lakitu, but it can also be used by any other character in the game.

History

Mario Kart 7

The Cloud 9's acceleration and handling get a boost, while the speed and weight stats are hindered. It is tied with the Birthday Girl and Tiny Tug for having the lowest speed, and it is tied with the Birthday Girl and Koopa Clown for the highest handling of all kart bodies. Also, the Cloud 9 has the highest handling of any kart body that doesn't have a negative impact on the off-road stat.

In terms of its hidden stats, the Cloud 9 excels pretty well while underwater, and it offers one of the best sea handling stats of any kart body; a trait that it shares with the Tiny Tug. In fact, when compared to all the other kart bodies, the Cloud 9 has the highest stat total in the game.

Its engine sound is similar to that of Toad's and Koopa Troopa's kart from Super Mario Kart.

CPU Rosalina can occasionally be seen driving in this body.

Mario Kart Tour

The Cloud 9 returns in Mario Kart Tour, where it is classified as a Super kart. Jump Boosts yield more points when using this kart. It uses the Sponge tires from Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS

The Cloud 9 makes a cameo appearance as a trophy in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, driven by Lakitu.

Lakitu + Cloud 9 Cloud9Trophy3DS.png This cloud kart is basically the bottom half of Lakitu. With its fluffy design and zippy style, Cloud 9 seems like a good match for Yoshi, but can you imagine what it would look like for Wario to drive this? It might just be distracting enough to give you an advantage! This cloud kart is basically Lakitu's other half. As in, "bottom half". Being so fluffy, it would be a good fit for Yoshi, but can you imagine Wario driving it? That'd just be weird! Then again, maybe he'd use that to throw his opponents off their game... Yep, that Wario's a sneaky one!
