Shifting walls[citation needed] are hazardous obstacles in the Super Mario franchise. It debuted in New Super Mario Bros. in the level, World 1-Tower. While the player can avoid the obstacles, if the shifting walls crush the player, the player loses a life. It reappears as obstacles in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe.
