History

Mario Kart series

Mario Kart: Double Dash!!

Mushroom City
The Turbo Birdo in action

The Turbo Birdo first appears in Mario Kart: Double Dash!! as Birdo's kart. It can be unlocked by completing the Flower Cup in 150cc. It is the heaviest middleweight kart in the game, and has average speed, acceleration, and steering capabilities.

In terms of actual stats, the Turbo Birdo has the same top speed as the Bloom Coach, but is tied with the Red Fire, Bullet Blaster, and Parade Kart for the weakest acceleration of all the three star acceleration karts. Also, despite of its four star weight rating, the Turbo Birdo is only heavy enough to rival the weight of the Wario Car and Parade Kart. It is one of the four karts to have stats "out of the ordinary" for its weight class, with the others being the Green Fire, the Boo Pipes, and the Barrel Train.

The Turbo Birdo, Turbo Yoshi, Toad Kart, and Toadette Kart all share the same engine sound.

Mario Kart Tour

The Turbo Birdo returns in Mario Kart Tour alongside Birdo as part of the Holiday Tour, where it is classified as a Super kart. Similar to the Turbo Yoshi, it only has one handlebar rather than two as in its original appearance, the rear of the kart curls up to resemble Birdo's tail, replacing the original kart's platform, and the joints of the first handlebar have moved to make room for the driver's emblem. The mouth now has a visible grille. It is the signature kart of Birdo. The Turbo Birdo increases the duration of Mini-Turbo boosts and the amount of points earned from performing Mini-Turbos. It uses the Turbo Yoshi's tires, although in the splash art for the 2020 Yoshi Tour it is shown with the Pipe Frame's tires instead.

The game introduces four variants of the Turbo Birdo: a light-blue variant introduced in the Vancouver Tour called the Light-blue Turbo Birdo, a yellow one introduced in the 2020 Yoshi Tour called the Yellow Turbo Birdo, a black one introduced in the 2021 Yoshi Tour called the Black Turbo Birdo, and a blue one introduced in the 2nd Anniversary Tour called the Blue Turbo Birdo. The light-blue, yellow and blue variants are also classified as Super karts, while the black variant is are classified as a High-End karts.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the Turbo Birdo appears as a sticker. In The Subspace Emissary, it can be used by any fighter to increase their weapon attack power by 15 points.
