The Streetle is a kart body appearing in the Mario Kart series. As the name implies, the design of the kart is based upon a beetle, more specifically the ones that can be caught in the Animal Crossing series, with a horn on the front and a pair of wings on the back that open up whenever the player receives a large speed boost or enters an anti-gravity or gliding section. Its name is a combination of “street” and “beetle”. The emblem is located on the elytra.
History
Mario Kart 8 / Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
The Streetle first appears as part of the Animal Crossing × Mario Kart 8 downloadable content pack for Mario Kart 8 as well as the base content of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. It is Male Villager's signature kart.
The Streetle shares its stats with the Blue Falcon, a kart from the first downloadable content pack, having higher acceleration and speed, at the cost of weight and traction.
A CPU Male Villager will occasionally drive this vehicle, paired with the Leaf Tires and Paper Glider. Its engine noise is a higher pitched version of the Tanooki Kart, which is a Wankel engine.
In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, it is now available from the start and shares stats with the Landship. 200cc Staff Ghosts for SNES Donut Plains 3 and GBA Cheese Land use Koopa Troopa and Donkey Kong and with Monster and Roller tires, respectively.
Mario Kart Tour
The Streetle appears in Mario Kart Tour starting from the 2022 Halloween Tour. Compared to its previous appearances, the wings and elytra always stay open regardless of whether the player has received a speed boost or not, instead of being normally closed. The Streetle uses a green version of the Mushroom tires and increases the duration of Jump Boosts and the number of points earned for performing a Jump Boost.
