The storyline known by fans as "Mario Olympics" of the Super Mario Bros. 4: Super Mario World series would have been the eight volume of the Super Mario World arc of the Super Mario manga series by Kodansha, but it never came to be due to some undisclosed copyright issues.

It is based on the 1992 Summer Olympics, making it the first Mario media related to the Olympic Games.

The chapters were probably originally serialized in Comic BomBom from June to September 1992.

Plot[edit]

The Mushroom Kingdom, Sarasaland, the Golf Kingdom, Dinosaur Land, and the Koopa Empire compete in the Olympic Games.

Various scenes include Magikoopa trying to win the track & field competition with his teleportation magic, only to run out of Magic Points and be trampled by the other runners; Peach and Daisy are seen training for the judo tournament, the former imitating a manga by rolling Mario like a boulder off a set of stairs, while the latter watches martial arts movies to copy their moves, and the Dinosaur Land team excels at soccer thanks to the juggling Dolphins and Wiggler's feet.

The story introduces Otaku-chan as a character, and marks the debut of Kinoppe as a side image.
