Koopa Beach 2 is a race course that first appears in Super Mario Kart, and reappears in Mario Kart: Super Circuit and Mario Kart DS. Koopa Beach 2 ranked #131 of 136 on the Mario Kart Countdown.
Koopa Beach 2 (known by various other names in future entries) is the second course of the Special Cup in Super Mario Kart. It is set on a large sandbank in the middle of a blue sea. Its obstacles are deep patches of water and bouncing Cheep Cheeps.

Appearance in Super Mario Kart
It was subsequently reused in Mario Kart: Super Circuit as the first track of the Extra Special Cup, in Mario Kart DS as the first race of the Leaf Cup,  in Mario Kart Tour starting with the Marine Tour, and in Mario Kart World as the first course of the Shell Cup.
Koopa Beach 2 is the second course of the Special Cup. Its obstacles are deep bodies of water and bouncing Cheep Cheeps, and it is considered one of the 'average' tracks.

Appearance in Mario Kart: Super Circuit
Excluding the addition of classic course prefixes, regional differences, and grammatical updates (for example, "Bowser's Castle" compared to "Bowser Castle"), Koopa Beach 2 is the only course in the Mario Kart series to date to have its name changed in future entries. In Mario Kart Tour and Mario Kart World respectively, it is named Koopa Troopa Beach 2 and Koopa Troopa Beach.
Koopa Beach 2 appeared in Mario Kart: Super Circuit, and is the first track in the Extra Special Cup. It uses the background from Shy Guy Beach, including the pirate ship. The Cheep Cheeps were removed from the track. Since there is no Feather item is not in this game, the small ramp in the middle area is unreachable.

The course reappeared in Mario Kart: Super Circuit, and is the first track of the Extra Special Cup. It uses the background from Shy Guy Beach, including the pirate ship. The Cheep Cheeps were removed from the track. Since there is no Feather item in this game, the small ramp in the middle area is unreachable. However, the ramp was not removed despite this; the player can still see it over the wall.

Koopa Beach 2 reappears once more in Mario Kart Tour, where it makes its debut in the Marine Tour. It has been renamed to "Koopa Troopa Beach 2". Unlike the previous versions, the Starting Grid is now located on the main road and several arrow signs on buoys were added. The course now has a starting banner with the classic Mario Kart logo. The walls within the course are now thinner. The island in the water portion is bigger, and that portion has two Item Box sets (one on the island, the other on the other side). The deep water patches are now offroad; they merely slow down racers, rather than sidelining them. The first and last Cheep Cheeps were removed, and the one in front the small island was moved to the other side. The fish themselves bounce higher and merely slow down racers instead of making them spin out. Some of the beach near the starting line is removed, and the part left over is now mossy, requiring two more turns to the finish line.

The course also appears as Koopa Troopa Beach 2R (reversed), Koopa Troopa Beach 2T (with ramps), and Koopa Troopa Beach 2R/T (reversed with ramps); the first two variants were introduced alongside the normal variant in the Marine Tour, while the last was introduced in the Sunshine Tour. The R/T variant, however, was present in one of the screenshots released for the 2021 Summer Tour, two years prior. In the R variant, a Glide Ramp has been added, allowing players to glide over the island with shallow water.

If the player falls into the deep, normally inaccessible water during the course's Glider Challenge, they will enter a brief underwater state before falling out of the screen. Like SNES Donut Plains 1, N64 Frappe Snowland, N64 Choco Mountain, and GCN Mushroom Bridge, it retains its original music, rather than using the Mario Kart DS arrangement.

SNES Koopa Troopa Beach 2 has the longest gap between reappearances of all classic courses, between the Samurai Tour and the Sunshine Tour (a gap of thirty-five tours). It is the first classic course to be absent for over a year.

Koopa Beach 2 (now named "Koopa Troopa Beach", continuing the trend of Mario Kart Tours renaming) returns once again as the first course of the Shell Cup and the second checkpoint of the Cherry Rally in Mario Kart World; it is the only classic course in the cup. It is located in a bay at the south end of the map, and features elements characteristic of a festival, including a large balloon of a Koopa Troopa wearing a cap and sunglasses floating above the course, and speakers and monitors making up the finish line gate. The layout is now shorter and circular, and the holes that drivers could fall through have been removed. The course is now once again five laps long, like in Super Mario Kart and Mario Kart: Super Circuit; when taking a route to Koopa Troopa Beach, it is instead one lap like most other tracks when taken via routes. Its music now consists of techno music, which is common to many beach parties in real life.

Geographically, the course sits in the ocean next to Koopa Beach 1 in the south of the game's map.

Routes
Out of the eight total routes that lead to Koopa Troopa Beach, four (coming from Crown City, Whistlestop Summit, DK Spaceport, or Desert Hills) have the player travel the track in reverse, while the other four (coming from Faraway Oasis, Dino Dino Jungle, Great ? Block Ruins, or Peach Stadium) have the player travel around the track normally. The route from Peach Stadium is unique as it doesn't enter from the side of the track (facing the starting line) and instead comes from above, turning to the right to pass through the starting line before the final lap.

Although Desert Hills, Great ? Block Ruins, and Whistlestop Summit all have routes leading to Koopa Troopa Beach, the reverse is not true; Koopa Troopa Beach does not have routes leading to those three courses.

Koopa Beach 2 (known by various other names in future entries) is the second course of the Special Cup in Super Mario Kart. It is set on a large sandbank in the middle of a blue sea. Its obstacles are deep patches of water and bouncing Cheep Cheeps.

The course is composed of a counterclockwise loop on and around one main island. It begins with a left turn and the first set of ? Panels. Racers then take another left turn and enter a section where they must drive through shallow water. In this section they must weave around Cheep Cheeps as well as areas of deep dark-blue water. On the right side of the section there is a small area of sand with a ? Panel on top. There is then a gradual left turn followed by a slight right turn and another gradual left turn, and racers reach the finish line soon after.

Mario Kart: Super Circuit

The course reappeared in Mario Kart: Super Circuit, and is the first track of the Extra Special Cup. It uses the background from Shy Guy Beach, including the pirate ship. The Cheep Cheeps were removed from the track. Since there is no Feather item in this game, the small ramp in the middle area is unreachable. However, the ramp was not removed despite this; the player can still see it over the wall.

Mario Kart DS

Koopa Beach 2 reappears again in Mario Kart DS as the first course of the Leaf Cup. Though it is slightly longer, it is still one of the shortest tracks in the game. Cheep Cheeps return from the original, though using their modern design. The island which originally had one Item Box on it is now bigger and has three of them. The ramp inside the wall was removed. A bit of moss was removed near the finish line. It was never available in Wi-Fi play.

Missions

There is one mission that takes place on Koopa Beach 2:

  • Mission 5-3: The player controls Toad, who must hit 5 moving Item Boxes within 35 seconds. Each Item Box contains a Mushroom.

Mario Kart Tour

The course in Mario Kart Tour

The Glider Challenge also features a boat designed like one of Sydney's famous ferries, which was used to tease the Sydney Sprint race course.

Koopa Troopa Beach in Mario Kart World
The course in Mario Kart World

Koopa Beach 2 (now named "Koopa Troopa Beach"[2], continuing the trend of Mario Kart Tour's renaming) returns once again as the first course of the Shell Cup and the second checkpoint of the Cherry Rally in Mario Kart World; it is the only classic course in the cup.

    • English (American):
Watch out for the deep pools of water and rough sand as you cruise through the Koopa Beach 2 track. This is a short course, so there's no time to lose!
    • English (British):
The colour of the water in Koopa Beach 2 tells you how deep it is. Stay in the lighter-coloured shallow water and avoid the dark patches, otherwise you'll be wishing they fitted your kart with a propeller. A school of jumping fish must be avoided too if you're going to stay dry.
