HistoryEdit

Mario Kart seriesEdit

Fire Chains appear in all mainline games in the Mario Kart series from Mario Kart: Double Dash!! onward, occasionally alongside normal Fire Bars. When touched by any racer without the use of a Super Star, they cause them to get burned and spin out.

The number of fireballs in a Fire Chain varies per course and per game. In the Mario Kart: Double Dash!! version of Waluigi Stadium they are made up of eight fireballs while the Mario Kart Wii, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Mario Kart Tour versions of the course have six. In Wario Colosseum, Fire Chains contain seven fireballs. The Mario Kart DS version of Wario Stadium features Fire Chains with five fireballs, while the same course in Mario Kart 8 again features Fire Chains of six fireballs. The Fire Chains in the Mario Kart Wii course Bowser's Castle have three fireballs each.

Super Mario seriesEdit

Super Mario Galaxy 2Edit

Fire Chains are obstacles in Super Mario Galaxy 2. They appear in Bowser's Lava Lair, on the starting planet, and the fireball planet, and the Slipsand Galaxy on its starting planet. They behave the way they do in the Mario Kart games, though sometimes, they go around planets instead of circling in the air.

Super Mario RunEdit

Fire Chains, also referred to as rings of fire, return in Super Mario Run, They appear as a complete "ring of fire" rather than separate sets of fireballs. They appear only in the course Rings of Fire!. Some move up and down. Coins, including Color coins, are often seen within the rings. Going through one without taking damage is a stylish move called Threading the Ring, and this move produces blue stars. In Toad Rally, these stars contribute to starting a Coin Rush. It also immediately gets a Toad to cheer for the player.
