History

Mario Kart: Super Circuit

Sprite of a Shy Guy Tent from Mario Kart: Super Circuit

In Mario Kart: Super Circuit, three Shy Guy Tents are dotted as obstacles throughout Sunset Wilds near some Dash Panels. They do not move on their own, and they affect racers only if they run into them. If a racer touches one, the tent breaks open and a Shy Guy with paint marks jumps onto the racer. The Shy Guy then takes away several of the racer's coins before hopping off. Shy Guy Tents respawn shortly after being hit.

Shy Guy Tents reappear in Mario Kart Tour, due to Sunset Wilds making a return. However, unlike in Mario Kart: Super Circuit, the tents are redesigned to more resemble prospector tents instead of tipis, and they are located on off-road sections of the track. Exploring Shy Guys take their place as obstacles on the actual course.
