A Magic Leaf Raccoonia is a species of plant appearing in the Super Mario Bros. comic "It's Always Fair Weather." It appears as a tall red-flowered potted plant and is one of the plants growing in the Mushroom Kingdom's royal garden. During the comic, Mario enters the royal garden and plucks a leaf off the plant after eating all of the cakes for the Annual Mushroomland Fair's baking contest. After eating the leaf, he then enters the funhouse, commenting that the leaf has an unusual taste and not knowing that he has turned into Raccoon Mario.

Naming[edit]

The Magic Leaf Raccoonia is named after the Super Leaf, which is a power-up appearing in Super Mario Bros. 3, and Raccoon Mario, which is the form that Mario turns into when he collects a Super Leaf. Its name also parodies the binomial nomenclature system used to classify species of living things.
