Super Mario (song)
The title of this article is official, but it comes from an Italian source.

"Super Mario"[1] is an Italian opening theme song to The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! It was performed by Cristina D'Avena, an Italian personality who sang numerous theme songs for animated series in the 1980s and 1990s. The song was composed by Massimiliano Pani, and the lyrics were written by Alessandra Valeri Manera.[2] It is featured on the compilation album Fivelandia 8 along with other Italian theme songs.[1]
This song served as the show intro and outro in the original Italian airings in place of "The Mario Rap" and "Do the Mario". A European Spanish adaptation titled "Supermario" was also made for the compilation album Supercampeones: Todos tus amigos de Tele5, released in 1992.[3] This adaptation was performed by Sol Pilas.[4][better source needed] However, it was not used on television until the broadcast of the later shows based on Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World, due to the video crediting Michael Tavera for the original music.[4][5]
Later airings on Italy also included the live-action segments with a translated version of the original songs, written and sung by Emanuele Arnone.
