“Behold, Planet Bowser! A sinister sanctuary where they could spend the rest of their days. They built an evil roller coaster! A gorge full of lava! And they carved a giant mountain into the shape of their heads! And at the top of the planet, they built the biggest cannon ever! It could destroy the universe! They called it... the Boomsday Weapon!”
Bowser and Bowser Jr., The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

Planet Bowser is a location in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. It is a planet constructed by Bowser Jr. within the Space Junk Galaxy and serves as their base of operations during the film. It contains a large amusement park and the Boomsday Weapon, which Bowser Jr. plans to use to destroy the universe.

While the planet is meant to resemble a Spike Ball, it also features elements from Super Mario Bros. Wonder's Castle Bowser, such as the green zig-zagging equator and horns and the Boomsday Weapon being a nod to the castle's Wonder Bowser spire. The planet's amusement park is also directly inspired by World Bowser's attractions from Super Mario 3D World.

Inspired by the bedtime stories told by his father, Bowser Jr. creates Planet Bowser in Space Junk Galaxy mostly by himself after being expelled from boarding school as a result of his dislike of it. With the help of Kamek and Bowser's Minions, he captures Rosalina to use her star energy to power the Boomsday Weapon. After rescuing his father, he takes him to Planet Bowser and leaves him amazed, astonished and impressed, so much that he ultimately returned to villainy in order to continue his legacy and his role as King of the Koopas despite claiming he changed his ways due to Luigi's rehabilitation program. After reaching Planet Bowser, Mario and his friends engage in battle against the Bowsers. As Mario wins the battle by saving Bowser Jr. from a dragon he summoned with his magic brush, Peach rescues her sister Rosalina and their star magic causes the whole planet to be covered in meadows and flowers, deactivating the Boomsday Weapon.

In the event celebrating the film's release in Super Mario Run, the artwork of Bowser's poster depicting him on Planet Bowser is used as the background of the "Father and Son Retaliate" set of missions.
