Ooga and Ugga are the names given to two recurring Cave People in the Super Mario World television series, playing minor roles in the episodes, most prominently appearing in the episode "The Wheel Thing."

History[edit]

"The Wheel Thing"[edit]

In "The Wheel Thing," Mario, having made several wheels with the help of his brother Luigi, suggests that two should try them out on the natives. Holding a pair of wheels, he runs into Ooga and Ugga, who are struggling to carry a wagon full of rocks. He then rolls the wheels towards them, hoping that they would put them on the wagon, but the two Cave People, not knowing what to do with the wheels, throw them into the wagon and continue carrying the wagon. Flustered by them not understanding how to use the wheels, Mario tells them to "use [their] head," prompting Ooga and Ugga to wear them as hats. Later, a large fly flies past Mario towards the Cave People, who proceed to use the wheels as a flyswatter, leaving the now-flattened fly to fly away. Ooga and Ugga are then seen as two of the spectators watching Luigi demonstrate the wheels while riding a makeshift skateboard.

Later, when the Mega Mechanasaur begins wreaking havoc in Dome City, it crushes Ugga's Cavemobile. Ugga then proceeds to knock on the doors to the Dome Castle and urges the Princess to bring back the Mario Bros. (who the Cave People banished to the Lava Pits earlier), explaining that the Mechanasaur is causing chaos in the city. Ugga and Ooga are last seen at the end of the episode, where they are two of the Cave People cheering on Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi after they defeat the Mechanasaur.

"Send in the Clown"[edit]

Ooga and Ugga appear in the episode "Send in the Clown," where they are two of the Cave People attending the Koopaling Bros. Circus.

"The Night Before Cave Christmas"[edit]

Ugga appears in the episode "The Night Before Cave Christmas," where he is one of the Cave People seen fighting with each other. Ugga and Ooga later appear as two of the Cave People present when Mario explains Christmas to them, with the latter also appearing to help Mario cut down a tree.

"King Scoopa Koopa"[edit]

Ooga appears in the episode "King Scoopa Koopa," where he is one of the Cave People partially mutated into a Chickadactyl by King Koopa's Egg Scoopa Koopas.

"Rock TV"[edit]

Ugga appears in the episode "Rock TV," where he is one of the Cave People who storm the Dome Castle and capture Mario and Luigi. Later, he and Ooga appear as spectators of "All-Star Prehistoric Tag Team Wrestling."

Naming[edit]

  • Ooga and Ugga's names are derived from "ooga booga," a phrase mimicking stereotypical caveman speech.
