History[edit]

The Super Mario Bros. Movie[edit]

In The Super Mario Bros. Movie, the grandfather is shown living with Papa Mario, Mama Mario, Uncle Tony, Uncle Arthur, Aunt Marie, Mario, Luigi, and the brothers' niece all in the same household. He is shown in the dinner scene sitting next to Mama Mario requiring her help to feed him. He wears an old-fashioned green hat and a plaid reddish-brown and green shirt. He joins Uncle Arthur and Uncle Tony, laughing at Mario and Luigi about their Super Mario Bros. Plumbing commercial, though he has no interest in the conversation. Being old and toothless, he uses crutches to walk and needs to be helped when eating. After Mario and Luigi defeat Bowser and save Brooklyn together, he celebrates his grandsons' heroism alongside the rest of the family. It is implied that he used to be a boxer when he was younger.[1]
