"Zooming Around Nintendo HQ with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe!" is the nineteenth episode of The Play Nintendo Show on Play Nintendo's YouTube channel. This episode covers Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and takes place inside Nintendo of America headquarters in Redmond, Washington.
Plot synopsis[edit]
In the Casa de Nintendo, Andrew Trego is getting tickled by Izzy in the latter's warp pipe. Andrew introduces himself and his sister Jenna, who was playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for their competition later. Andrew grabs the copy Jenna is holding and says practice time is over. The siblings and Izzy go down the pipe and exit in the lobby of the Nintendo of America headquarters. Jenna says to celebrate one of their favorite games, she and Andrew will be racing around headquarters and seeing how many people they can beat in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Andrew says if they are going to race, they must do it "deluxe style", so he and Jenna wear cardboard versions of Mario and Princess Peach's karts respectively. The rules for the race involve going around headquarters and finding people to race against. If the player wins the race, they earn a point. After discussing the new content in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Jenna asks Izzy what he is going to be doing, to which he says he will be taking a tour. Andrew then begins the race.
Andrew stops by a wall featuring Mario and Luigi next to the Nintendo logo and takes selfies in front of it. Meanwhile, Jenna is pointing out the new characters to a Luigi mascot costume. She choses Inkling Girl, which Luigi is upset about. At a desk, Izzy gets a call from Andrew, which Izzy hangs up on and tells the worker next to him. Jenna is then seen racing Luigi in Dragon Driftway. She wins the race as Inkling Girl, granting her the first point of the race. Andrew chases after Jenna past tables furniture that resembles D-pads, but stops upon noticing a Nintendo store. In the store, Andrew is waiting in line to purchase three Piranha Plant plushes, a Bowser Jr. plush, a Boo plush, a Donkey Kong plush, a giant Link figure, a The Legend of Zelda-themed hat, and shorts featuring Mario and Luigi. He talks to the shopper behind him. Andrew impatiently waits for the shopper at the desk to hurry purchasing and mimics a car horn. While this is happening, Jenna gains two more points.
Meanwhile, Izzy hears Mario Kart 64's rendition of Invincibility BGM inside room 1005B and assumes all the Super Stars are kept in there as rainbow lights are seen through the door's outlines. Izzy wants to sneak in and pretends to be like the Piranha Plant-shaped bushes next to him. Hannah says hi to Izzy, causing Izzy to say hi back, breaking his stillness. Izzy tries to redeem himself by pretending to make "plant noises". Andrew runs into Terry and gives him a high five. The video stops as a heartbis drawn around the two of them and text appears reading "best friends forever". Jenna goes down a hallway and beats someone in the Luigi's Mansion battle course. Meanwhile, Andrew is about to play the final round of Battle mode in Urchin Underpass. After Andrew praises the game some more, a worker tells Andrew what he praised the game for is a reason why they can not stop playing it around the office. When Andrew asks if this is the reason why he is losing, the worker confirms it.
In the store, a shopper asks Izzy if the baby clothes he is holding featuring Toad coming out of a warp pipe comes in a larger size, to which Izzy states it comes in a bag. Jenna gains another point winning in Rainbow Road as Inkling Girl and Andrew wins a point as Bowser Jr. in Baby Park. After Andrew runs into the furniture from earlier, Frizzy tells a joke to Terry and two other workers about Andrew saying "who needs a stapler when we have cake?". Terry does not understand the joke, which makes everyone laugh. After Jenna spins around in the furniture room, Izzy concludes his presentation on proper warp pipe maintenance techniques, which Luigi is attending. When Izzy asks if anyone has questions, Kerry thinks she is in the wrong meeting. Meanwhile, Andrew and Terry are playing in Lunar Colony, another course Andrew praises. Andrew loses because he was paying too much attention to the scenery, and he blames Terry. Despite this, Andrew agrees to one more round against him. During this, Jenna gets another point and races around the store, where she sees something she likes and wants to shop later. The Ask Izzy segment, "What Is Your Warp Pipe House Like?" then plays. Andrew wins against two workers in Shine Thief in Dragon Palace, gaining him another point. After a montage of Andrew playing against two people, Jenna plays against eight people in Balloon Battle in Battle Course 1. Jenna wins again, and gains seven points, each from the other people playing.
Andrew and Jenna reunite where they started, and exclaim that was their best day ever. The points are then tallied, and Jenna wins with 14 points while Andrew has 3 points. Andrew congratulates Jenna and compliments the headquarters. The siblings then encourage the viewer to like, subscribe, and visit the Play Nintendo website. Andrew then wonders where Izzy went, and Jenna wonders how they get home. Izzy is dancing with all the workers, including Luigi. The video ends Andrew polishing his cardboard cart and Terry asking how fast his cardboard kart goes. Andrew answers Terry's question by asking him how fast he can run.
