"Buoy Base Galaxy"[1][2] is a musical theme composed by Mahito Yokota for Super Mario Galaxy, where it plays in the galaxy of the same name.

Super Mario Galaxy[edit]
Super Mario Galaxy marks the first appearance of "Buoy Base Galaxy".
A simpler, more subdued arrangement of "Buoy Base Galaxy" plays whenever the player is underwater. It is titled "Buoy Base Galaxy - Undersea" in the Nintendo Music app and the Platinum Version of the Super Mario Galaxy Original Soundtrack album.
Both "Buoy Base Galaxy" and "Buoy Base Galaxy - Undersea" return in the Nintendo Switch ports, Super Mario 3D All-Stars and Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 for the same purposes. The former is also included in the official album The 30th Anniversary Super Mario Bros. Music.

In Super Mario Galaxy 2, the original version of "Buoy Base Galaxy" plays in the "To the Top of Topman's Tower" mission in Space Storm Galaxy. When a blue switch is activated, a distortion effect is added to the music.

In Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games, an arrangement of "Buoy Base Galaxy" can be chosen as the background music for events. It is titled "Buoy Base Galaxy: Super Mario Galaxy (Remix)" in the game's sound test.
