"Melty Monster Galaxy",[2] also known as simply "Melty Monster",[3] is a musical theme composed by Ryo Nagamatsu for Super Mario Galaxy 2, where it plays in the galaxy of the same name. This theme quotes "Overture" from Super Mario Galaxy at the end.

Super Mario Galaxy 2[edit]

Super Mario Galaxy 2 marks the first appearance of "Melty Monster Galaxy", and it returns for the same purpose in the Nintendo Switch port, Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2. It is also included in the official albums Super Mario Galaxy 2 Original Soundtrack and The 30th Anniversary Super Mario Bros. Music.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[edit]

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the original version of "Melty Monster Galaxy" can play in any Super Smash Bros.-series and Super Mario-series stage. It is simply titled "Melty Monster" in the game's sound test.

Mario Kart World[edit]

In Mario Kart World, a flamenco jazz arrangement of "Melty Monster Galaxy" can play in Free Roam during the day, on the route from Desert Hills to Shy Guy Bazaar in the Flower Cup, and on VS Race routes coming from Desert Hills and Shy Guy Bazaar.

PRESS START 2011[edit]

PRESS START 2011 in Tokyo, Japan featured a live orchestral medley arrangement of "Starship Mario", "Melty Monster Galaxy", "Fated Battle", and "Super Mario Galaxy 2 Trailer Theme" from Super Mario Galaxy 2 arranged by Ryo Nagamatsu.[4]
