"The Honeyhive"[1][2] is a musical theme composed by Mahito Yokota for Super Mario Galaxy, where it plays in the Honeyhive Galaxy and the Gold Leaf Galaxy. It uses a 12-bar boogie-woogie pattern, and features electric guitar, marimba, flute, and mandolin instrumentation.

Super Mario Galaxy[edit]

Super Mario Galaxy marks the first appearance of "The Honeyhive".

A frantic arrangement of "The Honeyhive" titled "Big Bad Bugaboom" plays in the Honeyhive Galaxy mission of the same name. It features a faster tempo, higher key, and new intro. Furthermore, the electric guitar instrumentation has been removed, and a series of arpeggios is introduced before the mandolin section.

Both "The Honeyhive" and "Big Bad Bugaboom" are included in the official Super Mario Galaxy Original Soundtrack album and return in the Nintendo Switch ports, Super Mario 3D All-Stars and Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2, for the same purposes.

Super Mario Galaxy 2[edit]

In Super Mario Galaxy 2, a remix of "The Honeyhive", titled "Honeyhop Galaxy" in the Nintendo Music app, plays in the Honeybloom Galaxy and the Honeyhop Galaxy. The remix adds muted trumpet and flute instrumentation. It is also featured in the Super Mario Galaxy 2 Original Soundtrack album and returns for the same purposes in the Nintendo Switch port, Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2.

In The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, a brief orchestrated arrangement of "The Honeyhive" is incorporated in the track "The Worst Place to Bee", which plays as Mario, Luigi, Bowser, and Yoshi reach the Honey Queen's palace. It was arranged by Brian Tyler, and it is also included in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) album.
