Super Mario Galaxy marks the first appearance of "Catastrophe". The game also features two additional arrangements of the theme.

A faster-paced arrangement of "Catastrophe" is incorporated in the theme that plays during the boss battle against Bowser Jr. in Bowser Jr.'s Airship Armada at the beginning. It is titled "Enter Bowser Jr.!" in the Nintendo Music app and the official Super Mario Galaxy Original Soundtrack album.

A brief arrangement of "Catastrophe" is incorporated in the theme that plays during the third and final phase of the final boss battle against Bowser in Bowser's Galaxy Reactor. It is titled "Final Battle with Bowser" in the Nintendo Music app and the official Super Mario Galaxy Original Soundtrack album.

"Catastrophe", "Enter Bowser Jr.!", and "Final Battle with Bowser" all return in the Nintendo Switch ports, Super Mario 3D All-Stars and Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2, for the same purposes.
